Hon. General Secretary: GERALD J. POLLINGER. EDITORIAL OFFICES : 100 Bulstrode Road, Hounslow, Middlesex 11, Coggeshall Road, Feering, near Colchester, Essex AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS REVIEW Edited by D.T. HAYNES & G. PENNICK. (For Private Circulation Only) PUBLISHED BY AIR-BRITAIN The National Association of Aviation Enthusiasts FOUNDED 1948 VOL. 1 NUMBER 1 MAY 1959 WHEN, EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO, AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS WERE FIRST PUBLISHED IN AIR-BRITAIN DIGEST, UNDER THE TITLE OF "AIRPORT DIARY", IT WAS NOT THOUGHT AT THE TIME THAT THIS SMALL COLUMN WOULD HAVE SUCH A RESPONSE AND WOULD GROW LARGE ENOUGH TO MERIT ITS OWN PUBLICATION. HOWEVER OVER A QUARTER OF THE CURRENT MEMBERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SUBSCRIBING TO A NEW PERIODICAL COVERING AIRCRAFT VISITORS TO AIRPORTS AND AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS OVER THIS COUNTRY, AND WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS OF AN ADVERTISEMENT HAVING APPEARED IN AIR PICTORIAL, A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF INQUIRIES HAD BEEN RECEIVED BY THE HONORARY SECRETARY OF AIR-BRITAIN FOR A SAMPLE COPY OF THIS, THE FIRST ISSUE, NEW PUBLICATION "AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS REVIEW". Through the nation-wide aircraft reporting corps that has been set up by Air-Britain within the last few months, we are able to draw upon aircraft identification specialists not only in this country but from our many members overseas, and subscribers to AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS REVIEW may be assured of a constantly interesting and varied diet of information being presented. This first issue is an experimental one, and we shall be looking forward to hearing from our readers as to changes they might prefer in presentation and layout, and suggestions for inclusion of the photographs that may be obtained. We want also to hear of any rare aircraft visitors that you might have observed, and to receive illustrations that are suitable for reproduction. AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS REVIEW is another AIR-BRITAIN ENTERPRISE made possible by the enthusiasm and co-operation of the many members of the National Association of Aviation Enthusiasts both at home and overseas. (The first Vickers Vanguard, seen above, will shortly be followed by the second with all red wings and under- surfaces; we are looking forward to reporting visits of both to airfields. The Convair 880, seen below, with its maximum speed of 615 m.p.h. will also soon be a subject to report on in this country; with such speeds and with poor visibility, recognition becomes even more of an exact science.)
